Livin’ the Dream

‘Mid dusk-lit season

This exiled recluse pondered

How to be “of use”

No family, friends to tend, serve

Live self-consumed, eat poor fare

~

All of us have gifts

Creator God seeds within

World outside’s needy

Whatever least we offer

Prayers bless, and He multiplies

~

I’m livin’ the dream

In these silvered latter years

Small fragrant kitchen

Feeds assorted hungry lot

Cooking for neighbors fills heart

“Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.” Deut 15:10, New Internat’l Version

  1. Your poem has a lovely lilt and also shape. He multiplies even our smallest … Yes thank you for emphasising this wonderful characteristic of our good Father.
