Prompt: NOISE

The neighbor’s barking dog is beyond annoying.

Is it my imagination, or are there more sirens screaming day and night and day?

The woman downstairs bumps and bangs around throughout the wee hours until my nerves are frayed and I’m tempted to do violence—but don’t want to end up on 11 pm news…and in a noisy jail cell.

I’m convinced that one day a plane will land, loud and low (crash) on my roof.

The 24/7 pandemic news competes with political palaver…a constant buzz saw.

All of this incites voices in my head to harangue…and I’ve yet to locate Mute button.

  1. barking dogs and yapping newsmen (and women)
    I am soooo over it!

Great six .Expressed the thoughts of many I am sure.

        1. Oh, you’ve said it!! I’m glad that He’s never too busy, and nothing is too small to talk to Him about–if it concerns us, it concerns HIM!! He’s so wonderful!

  2. Damn that mute button… it’s not like I’ve located it in the past, its just that, like the remote that contains it, one day it’s right where it’s always been, the next day, the sofa cushions are on the floor, magazines every which way… no remote…no mute.

    Fun Six.

  3. Let me know when you find it, lol.
You’ve aptly described many a common irritant yet, current days, they seem even more irritating than normal. Underlying tension everywhere. Some days its easier to block it all out, some days not so much. Bottom line is we all could use a bit of respite.

    1. Yes, when it’s happening all on the same day it’s a bit much πŸ™‚ That underlying tension you mention has impacted everyone’s peace and joy to some degree–so we’re not alone, even while “distancing”. Hope you’re staying safe and well–God bless you ❀

  4. News boycott and no tv for me. Luckily I have quiet neighbors….that was a stressful poem…really reflected a sense of irritation…..well done!

    1. Thank you–and it’s nice to see you. I’ve been wondering how you are–since our last contact was Christmas (not sure if it was a year ago..). Take care, be safe, stay healthy–blessings to you (Leslie B).

  5. Ah yes, the compulsion to watch or listen to or read the coronavirus news. I’ve decided to write up a revised marketing plan for my new book–since I can’t do readings/appearances any more. Good harrowing six.

    1. Thank you for reading, and your comment! The thing is, I DON’T watch the news–except maybe to get the local weather if I need to go out. But if the TV is on, it seems “latest” warnings are sneaked in…along with all the advertising I despise. Today I went to get groceries, and 2 of my fave employees greeted me with dire reports they’d heard! I was astounded–I’m remaining steadfast in my belief that God will bring us through. Blessings to you πŸ™‚ ❀
