The Great Dinosaur (#WDYS)

What do you see # 33 – 8 June 2020

As though in a dream

Made real, I would spin

Backwards, make myself

Small again, yet alone

On my own, able to walk

Into the park where I’d

Meet the Great Dinosaur

Stately, still, wise, kindly

He’d understand about world

I came from, lately escaped…

I’d decide to name him

‘Luscious’, and he’d laugh

Tell me it was most perfect

Name, known for knight

Of true heroic character

And affectionate nature…

As afternoon sunbeams

Waned, gave way to starry

Dusk, he’d say, “take hold

Of my tail…I’ll guide you

To safe forever-home, a

Place not imagined nor

Illusory, where you’ll write

Wondrous endless tales”

    1. Hi Geri! Thanks so much for your comment–it means a lot, and tells me I succeeded in my goal–that of writing a comforting story 🙂 As well as making dinosaurs less frightening, I hope children might imagine they have a dinosaur who can protect them from whatever “monsters” scare them….if they’ve not been taught they have a guardian angel😇, which is even better!
