Daily Light #92 ~ God Keeps His Covenant

1 Kings 8:22-23, 56-61

Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the entire community of Israel. He lifted his hands toward heaven, and he prayed,

“O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven above or on the earth below. You keep your covenant and show unfailing love to all who walk before you in wholehearted devotion.”

“Praise the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses. May the LORD our God be with us as he was with our ancestors; may he never leave us or abandon us. May he give us the desire to do his will in everything and to obey all the commands, decrees, and regulations that he gave our ancestors. And may these words that I have prayed in the presence of the LORD be before him constantly, day and night, so that the LORD our God may give justice to me and to his people Israel, according to each day’s needs. Then people all over the earth will know that the LORD alone is God and there is no other. And may you be completely faithful to the LORD our God.”

Daily Light #69 ~ God Does Only Good

Psalm 119:65-66, 68, 73-77 New Living Translation

You have done many good things for me, LORD,

just as you promised.

I believe in your commands;

now teach me good judgment and knowledge.

You are good and do only good;

teach me your decrees.

You made me; you created me.

Now give me the sense to follow your commands.

May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy,

for I have put my hope in your word.

I know, O LORD, that your regulations are fair;

you disciplined me because I needed it.

Now let your unfailing love comfort me,

just as you promised me, your servant.

Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live,

for your instructions are my delight.

Daily Light #68 ~ My Only Hope

Psalm 119:49-50, 57-60, 63-64 New Living Translation

Remember your promise to me;

it is my only hope.

Your promise revives me;

it comforts me in all my troubles.

LORD, you are mine!

I promise to obey your words!

With all my heart I want your blessings.

Be merciful as you promised.

I pondered the direction of my life,

and I turned to follow your laws.

I will hurry, without delay,

to obey your commands.

I am a friend to anyone who fears you—

anyone who obeys your commandments.

O LORD, your unfailing love fills the earth;

teach me your decrees.
