Magic of Old Men’s Stories

Prompt ~

Magic night of old men

(Still boys at heart)

Their desire is only Time’s

Lingering embrace, beauty

Of redwood trees, any ocean’s

Beauty of sea-sprayed lather

Above, milky pink sky-show

And fishing…always fishing

Ask about those things

They talk on and on

I fall into the sparkle

Of their eyes…adventures

Their storytelling invokes

Salt-tang, woodsmoke poetry

Symphony of masculine language

Voices gentle and husky…

Some men trudge through life

Others let true spirit soar

Lusting for loveliness

Picture Frame Mystery

Prompt ~

Brilliant mirrored frame displays

Broken cup of mysteries

Shards green with verdigris

What do I see…is the cracked

Saucer full of ghosts, or ashes

Reflected, merely smoke

Is that girl my sister, or was it me

Ask Brother, the man who must

Know, cursed keeper of myths

Photographed fantasy, ‘mid attic

Filled with fractured antiques…

Child’s blurred life, in sepia

Prisoners of Hope

Prompts ~

Morning stars melt like magic

Air is moist

Prisoners of hope awake

Embrace cup of perfumed eternity

“Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles.” Zechariah 9:12, New Living Translation
